Our Model Railroad

We finally decided to have an open house in 2024 after 11 years. It was the first time to operate the expanded mainline with the new triple track bridge and Lorrie's fairy garden, as well as to show the work in progress on the Grand Canyon area. All of the track was rewired in 2023/24, and worked very well.

One of the new areas is a portion of the south rim of the Grand Canyon. This shows the Grand Canyon station with platforms.

This is the El Tovar hotel at the Grand Canyon. This was the first time that I had positioned the 3 pieces I have together, go get a sense of its final size. The finished product will be approx. 16' wide, 10' deep, and 3' tall.

This is Lorrie's fairy garden, with 3 eggliners running. This was the first time for her to set it up.

This is a small garden in the rear of our backyard. Note the "garden railroad" in the backyard of the house. It is Z scale.

Our new triple track bridge provides great "close up" viewing of passing trains.

Super Chief meets a tank train, with a steam freight above.(The electric box on the right is the switch for the reverse loop, polarity control.)

Had a crack open up in the asphalt in town and had to dispatch the street repair crew.

The winning pumpkin in the "largest pumpkin contest" gets loaded up.

An aerial view of the garden.
